Windage Trays Windage trays fit between the block
and the oil pan and help to control oil spraying around the bottom end of
the engine. This reduces drag on the crankshaft/rods and translates into
more horsepower.
A note on "windage tray height." There
are many different trays on the market, made to many different heights. When
using a stroker crank, the longer stroke will cause the crankshaft and
connecting rods to swing out farther than in a factory (stock stroke)
application. If you are attempting to use a windage tray which is designed
for a stock stroke in a stroker application, the crankshaft and rods may hit
the tray. For this reason, we make our stroker trays deeper, as you can see
in the picture below, on the left side.
