This page includes Aluminum Rear Seal Caps & Attaching Hardware. The rear seal cap holds the bottom half of the rear seal to the crank and provides a surface for the oil pan to seal up against. As a tech tip, if you are having problems with rear main seal leaks, have your machine shop surface a small amount of material (approx. .010") off the bottom of the rear seal cap using their Rod/Main cap cutter. This will hold the seal more tightly against the crank and solve many leak problems.

Our billet aluminum rear seal cap is fully CNC machined from a solid block of 6061 T-6. We make them slightly wider than the original factory units so there's no slop when it fits up into the block, which helps to avoid leaks. Don't forget the special countersunk bolts below.

Silicone Rear Seal End Strips Kit
We also offer upgraded silicone rubber rear seal end strips. These are the small strips which fit down the sides of the rear seal cap and seal it to the block. These are a huge improvement over the standard style paper or cardboard strips. Silicone is considered a much better material to use for these rear seal end strip applications. One more way to combat those pesky rear seal leaks. These fit all big blocks, all years. Our 144-1001 kit includes a package of (2) end strips. Color may be orange or blue, depending on stock.

Rope Seal - Graphite Impregnated
For those who prefer the original factory style "rope" seals for the rear main seal, we offer these nice graphite impregnated versions. One set includes both the upper and lower half. These fit both factory original rear seal caps and our new billet aluminum rear seal caps also. A hard to find part at a very reasonable price!

NOS FACTORY MOPAR Rear Seal 4227926
We bought the last of these NOS FACTORY OEM Chrysler rear seals. Since Chrysler no longer makes this stuff anymore, once they are gone, they are gone forever. These have factory Chrysler part number 4227926 molded into them, so you know they are genuine. Not like the aftermarket made overseas junk available everywhere else. They are just the ticket to repair those pesky rear seal leaks on all big block Mopar (361 383 400 413 426 and 440) engines. Sold as a pair (two halves which will equal one complete seal.)
