ARP Main Stud Kit - 12pt Our ARP main cap stud kit are the best main studs you can buy for the big block Mopar engine. These are forged from aircraft quality 8740 Chrome Moly steel that exceeds the most stringent quality standards. Parallel ground and hardened washers (shown above) are also included. Finished in black oxide for good looks and corrosion resistance. For the super important job of holding the crank firmly in the block, when you need the absolute maximum strength available, just can't buy a better stud. Period.
ARP Ultra-Torque Assembly Lube - 1.69oz Tube Whenever you order bolts, don't forget a tube of ARP assembly lubricant. ARP's new "Ultra-Torque" is a special new blend of PFTE lube which ensures the correct torque will be reached on the first pull, so there is no longer any need to "cycle" the fastener (or loosen and tighten it several times), which has been the case with ARP's regular "Moly Lube" This lube is essential to get correct torque on the head, rod and main bolts, and it doesn't hurt to put it on misc other engine bolts as well. One tube is usually enough to do 4 or 5 complete engines, so it's a good investment to keep around the shop.
ARP 5.200" Special Main Girdle Stud - ONE PIECE These are the special ARP 5.200" long main studs designed to be used with aftermarket 1/4" thick main girdle plates. These feature the extra long threads on the top end of the stud to allow for the extra thickness of the girdle plate, shims and hold down nuts. Normally, 8 of these are required for a complete engine, the rear (#5) main cap uses standard length studs since longer studs are impossible to use in this location due to the interference with the rear seal cap. We offer these individually for service replacement purposes with our own girdle kit, or for those who buy the girdle plate elsewhere and need the special studs.
Permatex Blue Loctite Use our premium Permatex BLUE Loctite on all applications which need to be held in place, but are still intended to be broken loose from time to time. We always use this on certain parts of the engine which tend to come loose occaisionally due to harmonics, even when they are torqued correctly during assembly. Big Block Mopars are famous for this on torque coverter bolts, rocker arm hardware, cam sprocket bolts, etc. We highly recommend it for those applications.
