This is our "SHORT" (3/4" length) bolt kit which works great with valve covers that have a thinner flange such as most chrome stamped steel or factory type covers or fabricated covers that use a flange that is 1/4" or thinner. Custom matching, small diameter washers are also included with this kit.
This ARP black oxide valve cover stud kit is designed to work with our fabricated valve covers (part #200-1052) which have a 3/8" rail. Using studs for the valve covers allows the gasket to be properly positioned while the valve cover is guided into position. Bullet nosed studs allow for easy installation of covers and easy threading of nuts. Special reduced flange diameter 12 point nuts help to give the most possible clearance in tight fit situations. Includes 12 studs, nuts and washers. Finished in black oxide for good looks and corrosion resistance.
Our ARP polished stainless steel valve cover bolt kits are exactly what people mean when they say "show quality." These work great with either stock, stamped steel (chrome, etc) valve covers, or any valve covers with 1/4" or thinner rail. Made from ARP's proprietary "300" stainless steel alloy, they are rated at a minimum 170,000 PSI, which is even stronger than a grade 8 bolt! And, you can't beat the quality, shine and corrosion resistance of polished stainless. Nothing resists the ravages of weather, time and even repeated tightening and loosening like stainless. These are truly maintenance free! Matching polished stainless washers are included. Small details like this can really make a car "show quality."
Whenever you order bolts, don't forget a tube of ARP assembly lubricant. ARP's new "Ultra-Torque" is a special new blend of PFTE lube which ensures the correct torque will be reached on the first pull, so there is no longer any need to "cycle" the fastener (or loosen and tighten it several times), which has been the case with ARP's regular "Moly Lube" This lube is essential to get correct torque on the head, rod and main bolts, and it doesn't hurt to put it on misc other engine bolts as well. One tube is usually enough to do 4 or 5 complete engines, so it's a good investment to keep around the shop.
Use our premium Permatex BLUE Loctite on all applications which need to be held in place, but are still intended to be broken loose from time to time. We always use this on certain parts of the engine which tend to come loose occaisionally due to harmonics, even when they are torqued correctly during assembly. Big Block Mopars are famous for this on torque coverter bolts, rocker arm hardware, cam sprocket bolts, etc. We highly recommend it for those applications. One small tube is usually enough to do one complete engine. Made in the USA!
