Lightweight Starter Shield - New

When ordering a lightweight starter, don't forget our special NEW REPRODUCTION lightweight starter shield. These are a commonly overlooked detail included by the factory, but over the years they often get thrown away when starters are replaced. They seal up the cavity which contains the starter gear and shaft, which are usually coated with light grease. With no shield, dust and road grime stick to the grease and gum things up quickly. The lightweight starters have a slightly different nose profile than the large factory gear reduction starters, which leaves a large gap exposed if you try to use the original factory shields with them. This shield has the proper opening to fit the lightweight starter's nose and it is made from the same coated steel as the original Chrysler versions. Details like this make the difference.
