In 1973, Chrysler transitioned A bodies to what is known as the "spool" mount system. This is where there is a round rubber insert molded into the actual steel mounting bracket. If the rubber should fail, the metal structure surrounds the bolt and will restrict the movement of the engine, so that under full power the engine doesn't lift up and destroy the fan shroud, linkage and other underhood areas. Although A bodies only came with small blocks from the factory for these later years, our special conversion mounts allow you do drop a big block into a factory small block car while keeping the factory small block K member.
Finally! A kit to drop a big block into your factory small block K member car. Unlike earlier setups, 1973 and later "spool" mount cars, DO use different small block and big block K members. These special mounts compensate for the difference, so you don't have to change out the K-member, if you could even find an original factory big block K-member these days. And, these feature polyurethane bushings, powder coated brackets, etc, and they are 100% made in the USA. In some cases, some material may need to be removed from the drivers side engine mounting perch on the K member for oil pump clearance. An amazing problem solver at a great price!
Finally, a hard to find reproduction of the factory bolts that will allow you to bolt your engine support brackets to the motor mount ears which are cast into the side of your engine block. These have the thin style washers and fine thread just like the factory originals that Chrysler used. And because they are US made from high strength steel, they work great for those high horsepower applications as well. One kit contains six bolt/washer/nut assemblies, enough to do one complete engine (both sides.)
We now offer an exact reproduction of the Chysler 2863892 oil pan that came on original big block 1967-69 A body cars. It even includes the original "893" number stamped into it. Because it's an exact reproduction of the factory pan, you can be sure it will be an exact fit. Pan depth is about 4 1/2". We recommend using our 111-1007 oil pickup, available on our oil pickups page. This pan is supplied in a in a very nice black finish, can be installed as-is or painted engine color if desired.
Shown here is our new stock replacement type curved type oil pickup. Uses 3/8" NPT engine block thread size. Use these with most factory style passenger car oil pans that have internal baffles welded in them, as the curve in the tube is engineered to allow the pickup to avoid hitting the baffle. Once installed, these measure about 4 1/2" from the pan rail to the bottom of the pickup. The distance from the rear of the pickup to the rear of the engine block (also once installed) is about 10 3/8". These "factory type" pickups can be run directly touching the bottom of the oil pan, however we have also run them with 1/4-3/8 of clearance between the pan and pickup without any problems. This pickup tube fits factory Chrysler "971" pans, among other applications.
