Shown here is our Comp Cams 10 degree "Super Lock" Steel Retainers. These are a huge, extremely beefy valve retainer which is designed to fit our Comp "Super Locks," which can be found on our Valve Locks page. This 10 degree lock & retainer system has a wider angle of interference than a standard 7 degree lock. These are fully machined from 4140 Chrome Moly and finished in black oxide. Comp recommends these for any cams over .460" lift (basically anything other than bone stock) but we feel they're absolutely necessary above .510" lift. We highly recommend upgrading to these for extra insurance, and it's required if you will be running a cam over .510" lift. These are supplied in a set of 16, enough to do one complete engine. Since they're Comp, you can be assured of two things: They're 100% made in the USA, and the quality is second to none.
These Comp Cams Titanium retainers offer a huge weight savings over standard steel retainers. Made from 6AL4V alloy, (the same stuff used on the F-117 Stealth fighter,) these weigh in at 19 grams, verses 33 grams for the steel version, a savings of over 40%! On high reving engines with high lift cams, the weight savings makes a huge difference in increasing the reliability and lifespan of valve train components. These are considered mandatory for our full race roller cams (such as our 145-1705 race roller cam with our 145-1009 springs,) and can be used as on optional upgrade with any of our Hydraulic Flat tappet or Hydraulic roller cams using our 200-1058 valve springs. For matching valve locks (for 11/32" valve stems,) use our 145-1002 valve locks. WILL NOT WORK with our Street Mechanical Rollers using our 145-1010 valve springs.
These are the chrome moly hardened retainers which are supplied with our assembeled Stealth heads. Use as a service replacement part. Sold one per package.
This is a labor charge for us to remove and replace valve locks and retainers, valve springs, and/or valve seals on any of the cylinder heads we sell. This labor charge must be selected in the same order as the cylinder heads, along with the extra parts you want replaced, such as retainers, locks, springs, etc.
While supplies last, we have sets of our "200-1060 Stealth Cylinder Head Valve Spring Retainers" available USED as a clearance item under this different part number. Most of these are from test engines and have very low hours on them. They may be oily and have carbon and/or some light wear markings on them, but otherwise should be in good shape.
