To make degreeing the cam easier, the 9 way adjustable crank gear has every position engraved with the advance or retard numbers for that specific position. High quality AMERICAN MADE single bolt chain setup. The crank gear is heat treated steel, as well as being 3 way adjustable, allowing the camshaft to be installed "straight up" (0deg/factory,) retarded or advanced. The cam gear is made of class 30 grey iron. The chain uses heavy duty independent seamless "TRUE" rollers.
A very very nice AMERICAN MADE 3 bolt billet steel double roller set. Both the 3 bolt cam and 3 way adjustable crank gears are first fully machined out of 1141 billet steel. After machining, they are run through a vibratory tumbler to remove all sharp edges. When the sharp edges of other competitors chains are viewed through a jeweler's loupe (try this yourself..), they are full of scraps and hanging burrs, many of which will end up in the oil pump and/or bearings after a few hours of operation. After the tumbler, the gears are hand filed, and then the crank gear is heat treated to a Rockwell hardness of 50 on the C scale (nearly twice the hardness of other competing chain sets,) and then run through the tumbler AGAIN, fully removing all the burrs and scraps mentioned above. This set includes a Rolon chain that uses heavy duty independent seamless rollers. The crank gear is also 3 way adjustable, allowing the camshaft to be installed "straight up" (0deg/factory,) retarded or advanced. No other manufacturer takes the time and effort to put their products through as many painstaking (and expensive) manufacturing processes as these chainsets go through. These "Generally" work with hydraulic lifters, however it's always a good idea to check your specific length first. Made from aircraft quality 4130 alloy 3/8" seamless tubing with a .065 wall thickness, and coated with a black oxide finish. These are supplied in "RB" (413/426/440) engine length of 8.905" long. These MUST be used with adjustable or roller rockers, most of which require these type of pushrods which have a "cup" on one end and a standard type "ball" on the other end.

This Comp "Street" Mechanical roller is a great grind for those who want to maximize their power with a roller cam, but who are also planning to put some mileage on the motor and don't want to have to buy new valve springs every 150 miles. In a 500"+ stroker, this cam will make power from about 3000-6500. The .582/.588" lift and 254 intake and 260 exhaust duration at .050" allows for super strong mid and upper range power without sacrificing too much low end for getting around on the street. These are ground on a 110 degree lobe separation angle. We'd use about a 3200 stall, and some decent rear end gears (3.55-4.10 for the street.) The key to the extra longevity with this setup is that this cam is designed to use a slightly lighter valve spring than a full race roller, which greatly increases the service lifetime of all the valve train components (especially the springs.) With this setup, we recommend our 145-1007 solid roller lifters, Comp's 938-16 valve springs, our 145-1003 retainers, and our 145-1002 locks (if you are using valves with 11/32" stems.) Also, this cam uses three bolt timing chain sets. We carry them (along with the required bolts, etc.) on our timing chains page. Don't forget to order Comp lifters and break-in lube (shown below) with your new cam! These items are considered essential to ensure that your cam has the longest possible life and is fully covered under Comp's warranty policy. These Comp Cams Titanium retainers offer a huge weight savings over standard steel retainers. Made from 6AL4V alloy, (the same stuff used on the F-117 Stealth fighter,) these weigh in at 19 grams, verses 33 grams for the steel version, a savings of over 40%! On high reving engines with high lift cams, the weight savings makes a huge difference in increasing the reliability and lifespan of valve train components. These are considered mandatory for our full race roller cams (such as our 145-1705 race roller cam with our 145-1009 springs,) and can be used as on optional upgrade with any of our Hydraulic Flat tappet or Hydraulic roller cams using our 200-1058 valve springs. New Heavy Duty Alloy woodruff key. Use for all engines, all years. This "performance" style uses extended "points" on the top of the key to allow more contact area with the crank gear of the timing set. Package of ONE woodruff key.
Our timing cover bolt kit includes all self locking bolts to attach the timing cover to the engine. Large underhead flange ensures the clamping load is spread evenly to minimize gasket distortion. Bright zinc plating helps prevent corrosion. A nice kit at a reasonable price.
